In Ex. 20 we find the Ten Commandments as given to God's people. The first one in verse 3 is, "Thou shalt have no other gods before me." I encourage us this Christmas season to have God and only God as our God. Let us put aside the god of selfishness, the god of materialism which gets us into debt, the god of Santa Clause, the god of greed, and that secret god in our hearts that takes precedence over the True God.

I encourage us to worship the true God and His Son, Jesus Christ, whom he sent to this earth in human flesh, not only to show us the way to live, but to provide a way for our sins to be forgiven through his death on the cross. Let us give of ourselves, not just things, let us see godly relationships of more value then gifts and a debt hangover, let us renounce the notion of Santa Clause, let us see this as an opportunity to help others, and let us put God on the throne of our hearts.
